Frequently
Asked
Questions

What are your fees?

I charge a standard rate of $200 per 1 hour session. This gives us 50 minutes for the session and 10 minutes of admin time.

I do offer sliding scale based on financial need. Please reach out to me to discuss your individual circumstances.

Do you take insurance and direct bill?

I can direct bill through Alberta Blue Cross, providerConnect, and Telus Health (which includes several major insurance providers). Most insurance plans do cover therapy with a registered social worker, but I encourage you to check with your provider to confirm your coverage. Once that's confirmed, feel free to reach out to see if direct billing is available for your plan.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. Late cancellations or missed appointments without sufficient notice will be charged the full session fee.

If you're feeling unwell with cold or flu symptoms, I ask that you either reschedule your appointment or switch to a virtual session if you're up to it. Your health and the health of others is important, and I'm happy to accommodate when possible.

What payment options can I use?

I accept payment via cash, e-transfer, or credit card. If you prefer, you can securely add your credit card details to your Jane app profile, and I can charge the card directly for your session. Payment is due at the time of your session.

What can I expect in my first session?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but I’m here to make the process as comfortable as possible. In your first session, we’ll begin by gathering information about you, your life, and the challenges you’re facing. This assessment helps me understand your needs and guide our work together.

Depending on the depth of information shared, the assessment may take just one session or a few. You are always in control of the information you choose to share, and you’re welcome to skip any questions that you’re not comfortable with.

Once the assessment is complete, we can discuss your goals for therapy and create a plan moving forward.

What happens if we don't vibe?

Finding a therapist who you feel comfortable and secure with is the most important part of the process. I encourage clients to book a consultation call to see if we’re a good fit, but if after a few sessions you feel that I’m not the right therapist for you, that’s absolutely okay. I’m happy to help support you in finding someone who better fits with your needs and goals.
